‘Twas the Night Before Christmas (And the Lights Went Out)
‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the place,
Not a creature was working, not even a trace.
The monitors dimmed, the printers stood still,
For the power had gone, and the office went chill.
The employees had left, their tasks incomplete,
Hopes dashed for deadlines they’d never meet.
For when the grid faltered, the systems all failed,
With no UPS, chaos prevailed.
The servers once humming, now silent and black,
Left the IT team holding their heads at the lack.
“We should’ve been ready!” the manager cried,
But the budget for backups had long been denied.
When out in the hallway there rose such a clatter,
I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.
Away to the breaker box, I made a quick dash,
Hoping to fix this electrical crash.
The fluorescent lights flickered, then died once more,
And darkness engulfed us from ceiling to floor.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a tech-savvy elf with a toolkit and gear.
He wore a sharp uniform, his logo was clear:
“CertaUPS” read the badge on his gear.
With a wink and a smile, he got straight to his trade,
“Let’s install a UPS so you’re never dismayed!”
He worked with precision, no motion was spare,
Installing the system with ultimate care.
In moments, the hum of protection was heard,
And the glow of the office returned like a word.
“Now servers! Now desktops! Now printers and phones!
On networks! On WiFi! On all things you own!
To the height of productivity, rise up again!
No more will you fear the outages, my friend!”
His job now complete, he turned with a bow,
“Your power is steady, you’re safe from the howls
Of blackouts and surges, no downtime to fear.
Merry Christmas to all—your uptime’s secure here!”
And as he departed, his voice softly hummed,
“Let this be a lesson: get your UPS done!”
